For any business that works with threaded components and relies on their snug fit for proper operations, it is important to choose parts (both screws and nuts) that are capable of serving the purpose. Given the vast range of available threaded component sizes, selecting the right piece is easier said than done.
This is where plug gauges come into play.
Westechlabs is proud to present for sale top of the line 1 1/4-7 UNC 2B GO/NG THREAD PLUG GAUGE that are crafted from the finest quality oil hardened tool steel for visibly less wear and tear that eliminates the need of frequent replacements.
The Specifics of 1 1/4-7 UNC 2B GO/NG THREAD PLUG GAUGE:
This tool has the following characteristics:
- The nominal size of the tool is 1 1/4-7 encompassing a full range of standard sizes and fits.
- As per the Unified Thread Standard (UTS) definition this tool can be used to determine the internal thread size and fit for nuts or taped holes that are designated as a part of the Unified National Coarse (UNC) series.
- Since this particular thread plug gauge is marked 2B, it can be freely used with general purpose threaded fasteners.
- The taper lock style ensures that a worn GO or NOGO member can be easily replaced.
The general nomenclature of thread plug gauge indicates that the tool proves itself handy in identifying maximum and minimum pitch diameter for internally threaded components.
HOW TO USE THE GO AND NO GO MEMBERS:
The #5 handle of this thread plug gauge can accommodate both a GO and a NOGO member. They have distinct uses.
The Go Member:
The GO member should be eased into an internally threaded component or fastener and should be able to traverse the entire length of the piece without feeling drag or friction. If this is not the case then the part is smaller than the fit needed. Any forcing of the member will increase the size of the component but will also wear the gauge at the same time. Often some of these threaded fasteners have residue or debris build up. The chip grooves on the GO gauge are provided to get rid of or clean out these deposits.
The NOGO Member:
For an inch thread, the NOGO member should not slide in beyond three complete turns. If it does so then the fastener is too large for the intended operation.
For a metric thread the NOGO should ideally stop engaging with the nut before the second turn.
Apart from the 1 1/4-7 UNC 2B GO/NG THREAD PLUG GAUGE, Westechlabs also offers API 5b, API 7B, API 11B, Buttress, EUE, NUE, Full Hole, Extra Hole, NPT, UN, BSP, Metric, Casing, Regular, Numbered Connections and Hughes H90 gauges.
